September 7th - Derek, Kev & Dave |

These 3 lads have been visiting the Tavern watering hole for some time and are at almost all of the Buskers nights. The vocals are carried out by Dave who is well known for his exceptional rock style. His brother Derek is a bass guitarist of some standing, but in this acoustic band he caters for the acoustic guitar position. Lastly, but certainly not least, is Kev. Anyone who calls to the Buskers on a Thursday will be awestruck by Kevs playing. If there is an amp and electric guitar available, he will use it. If not he will make do with playing acoustic rhythm and lead. |
Although this is an acoustic night, these lads do some brilliant acoustic covers of genres such as heavy metal, soft rock and pop. Some notables are songs from Dr Hook, Small Faces, UFO & Gary Moore. |

September 21st - Jonny Rix |
Jonny is well known at the Tavern and is one of the better guitarists around. Quite happy to play by himself or with others, Jonny will play all night if you let him. The Beatles are his favorite, and he can play virtually anything from the Merseysiders. among the songs played by Jonny on the night were The Beatles 'Two of Us', 'Girl' 'Rcky Racoon' (I got the chance to play harmoica on this one) The Kinks 'Lola' and 'Valerie' by Steve Winwood and 'The Boys Of Summer'. |
September 28th - T- Cup Head
Last band of the month were T-Cup Head. Probably the most ridiculous name on the planet, but a band with skill and some pretty good songs. The band usually play their own compositions, and the regulars in the band are Pete Shaw on guitar and vocals and Andrew on 6 string bass. Whenever possible they have the backing of a friend on the percussion. The sound was good on the night with the congas really filling out the sound. Pete is a regular at the Buskers night, although usually just playing by himself. Pete has produced a few CD's over the years, both on his own and with the band. |
