Here we
are.
ne.music
has been created by 6 people from four different
businesses. All with various interests in music
the aim was to start a project that would hopefully
benefit people from all walks of life. We've learnt
quickly that by channelling our resources a difference
can be made and it's developed from a series of
ideas into something we care about. The average
unsigned band wants and needs exposure. Playing
at a live gig or recording in a studio drives them
and for those of us that aren't as talented it
becomes an avenue of escapism watching artists
perform. Watching bands and listening to music
inspires people in different ways yet so many people
don't get the opportunity to bring their talents
to a wider audience purely because of external
factors they can't control. It's very difficult
to let people know what you as a band or musician
have to offer, quite often because of cost and
this is where we intend to come in..
The general discussion when an idea was first broached
was how we could focus on our local community or
a single venue. Quickly though this turned into
the whole region as we realised that it wasn't
about trying to focus solely on running a single
project but by moving in a lot of the circles we
already do on a day to day basis. If ne.music is
run like a business, with its sole aim of raising
awareness amongst the community and those that
we enjoy spending time listening too, surely by
focusing the resources we already have, collectively
we can all make a difference. We run the business
and handle all of the business related things like
meetings, getting price lists from suppliers, discussing
discounts and partnership opportunities because
this is what we do best, giving the community the
opportunity to grow through marketing outlets we
already have. A band won't need to focus so much
on publicity if we can drive the public to them
in the first place leaving them to concentrate
on their music.
Self development.
We have amongst the founders, several thousand clients.
It sounds a lot, but it is true. Add to this suppliers,
business contacts, funders, sponsors and the community
of musicians themselves collectively as a group we
have everything we need to succeed. Each client through
our existing network of businesses will have friends
or family that are interested in music and with a campaign
aimed at developing this, things will move on. Its
a game of promote us we'll promote them.
How is this achieved?
We speak to one of our existing clients that represents
a university and ask if they are interested in letting
us set up a concert, we speak to the photographer who
supplies us with images to see if they can take photos
of the gig. We inquire about funding for an acoustic
recording and get discount off the recording studio
because we've worked with them before. It is a knock
on effect as just like bands of musician’s network,
businesses have to in order to survive. If ne.music
can act as a bridge between the two parties, our community
will grow very quickly and bands and musicians will
get the attention they deserve because businesses see
the possibilities.
As a not for profit
organisation we have to be transparent regarding
any revenue that is generated so we have a legal
responsibility to ensure that work generates more
work that in turn benefits the community. As the
community develops, advertisers will hopefully approach
us and completely new avenues will open up not only
in how the region is represented but what we can
do about it. It's about finding the right people
for the right project.
By passing contacts back and forth, external
businesses will become more interested and invest
through advertising in what we care about. Creating
the cash to achieve the projects our members care
about. It benefits them to do so.
The more that advertising
opportunities are made available, the more sponsors
will come on board allowing us to set up mini projects
that run themselves. These projects will mean that
the bands collectively will get to control what happens
whilst we at ne.music seek the revenue to fund them.
For the benefit of the members. With a mixture of
grants, private and public investment as well as
income generated from goods sold from previous projects
it means for once people who care can get involved
without the restraints of budget. Most of the founding
members of ne.music deal particularly in marketing
and as a result have a lot of experience dealing
with high profile customers, allowing us to avoid
the pitfalls before they happen. At present the directors
are represented by web designers, CD reproduction
specialists, project management specialists, 2 marketing
companies along with a band with over 10 years experience
all working to get ne.music off the ground. With
the facilities to arrange things like recording a
live event and producing a DVD, setting up a shopping
cart and advertising in various magazines it means
bands can develop through ne.music directly or indirectly. If
you've never thought it would be possible or plausible
to advertise your band or gig on the back of a bus
that's why we are here. We know where the target
market is and we will use it to help you. In new
and innovative ways.
You wouldn't
be reading this if we didn't.
In order to facilitate what we are trying to achieve
we've set a list of short and long term aims that
we intend to focus on throughout ne.music's lifespan.
These are;
To follow through
on any commitments we make. If we say that something
will happen for someone we will do everything we
can to make sure it does. It may take time in the
beginning but with help from the bands / musicians
themselves we will deliver. If we say an event
is to pay for a CD to be promoted that is exactly
what it will be for.
To find new and innovative ways to promote the
organisation, its members and the community. If
we find we can do something that will get press
attention, regional or national we will and we
will encourage our members to be as innovative
as possible by aiding them wherever we can.
To listen to those involved and organise ourselves
using a structured approach in everything that
we do. We will not act without careful consideration,
but plan long term to deliver exactly what we can.
Project management is something we thrive on and
everything needs to be in place in order to make
it work.
To actively encourage and develop networking amongst
the community by working with educational bodies
to help those that want to improve their talents
do so. If a member wants to learn a different instrument
we will endeavour to put them in touch with the
right person or work with other members if they
can help.
To aim to provide
a network of venues, distributors and service providers
and work with these companies to get the best deals
for those involved – the members.
To work with
sponsors and private investors to ensure their
exposure in relation to ne.music events, festivals,
websites, promotions, CD's is in the interests
of the members. We will get the best deals we can
to give ne.music the ability to plan more projects.
To help growth
by working with everyone we deal with and attempting
to build relationships, no matter how unusual,
tol ultimately benefit ne.music's members.
To create a sustainable
business that employs people from all walks of
life to run this venture on a day to day basis
when we can't.
To always look forward
This coming year
we plan to get a general manager who will eventually
run ne.music 5 days a week. This will allow us
the time to develop more relationships and the manager
to work on behalf of our members. If we can't raise
the capital to do this, the companies involved intend
to use their own employees to do this at their own
expense. Thats how focused we are.
We believe we can do this and with your help and
support, in particular at the moment by helping make
this website established, that we as a community
can make a difference.
We have made a statement of
intent.
ne.music is here for you and its members. Believe
us when we say the best is yet to come.
Any suggestions, questions
and queries are always welcome..
ne.music is officially open.
We thank you for taking the time to read this page.
